Xavi Hernández is a FC Barcelona midfielder. He was born on January 25, 1980 in Terrassa, Spain.

Xavi began his career in the FC Barcelona academy which he entered in 1991. During 6 years Xavi was a successful player there standing out against the background of other young footballers. Xavi’s youth team occasionally won Spanish championship in youth leagues.

In 1997, Xavi signed his first professional contract with the native club. However, Hernández began playing for the reserve team. And there he became one of the best players due to his talent and desire to evolve constantly. By 2000, Xavi has played 61 matches for the reserve team and scored 4 goals.

In 1998, Xavi got his first chance to play in the FC Barcelona main squad. Having played a couple of matches Xavi returned to the reserve team.
